1. Christianity is a Daily Way of Life
Being a Christian isn’t just about identifying with a religion; it’s about following Jesus in your everyday life. Jesus said, “If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them” (John 13:17). True faith reveals itself in the choices we make, the values we uphold, and how we treat others.
Central to this is the belief in Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. The apostle Paul reminds us, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile” (1 Corinthians 15:17). Christianity calls us to live out this hope, trusting in the transformative power of His love.
2. Repentance Leads to Transformation
A genuine relationship with God starts with repentance—a change of heart and mind that redirects your life toward God’s purpose. The Bible encourages us to turn from old ways, as Peter said: “Repent… so that your sins may be wiped out” (Acts 3:19).
When this happens, transformation follows. Paul described it as becoming a “new creation,” where old habits and mindsets are replaced with a renewed sense of purpose (2 Corinthians 5:17). This transformation isn’t about perfection but about being open to growing in God’s grace.
3. Salvation is a Gift of Grace
One of the most liberating truths of Christianity is that salvation isn’t something you earn. It’s a gift from God, received through faith. As Paul wrote, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Faith is about trusting God with your life, even when the path feels uncertain. God’s promise is to walk with us through every step, reminding us, “I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
4. The Holy Spirit’s Presence
A major hallmark of being a Christian is the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. Paul teaches that, “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ” (Romans 8:9).
The Holy Spirit empowers and guides believers, helping them grow in love, patience, kindness, and other qualities that reflect Christ. It’s through the Holy Spirit that we experience God’s peace and assurance of His presence.
Take the first steps...
Christianity isn’t about achieving perfection but about embracing God’s grace and walking with Him one day at a time. Wherever you are on your journey, know that God is with you, inviting you to live fully in His love. Ultimately, being a Christian is about knowing and following Jesus as both Savior and Lord. It’s about allowing Him to shape your life from the inside out.
If you’re unsure whether or not you're a Christian, ask Jesus to make Himself known to you and seek Him with your whole heart, soul and mind. God's promises that all who truly seek Him will find Him:
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” - Hebrews 11:6
Pray this prayer:
Lord, I admit I am a sinner. I need and want Your forgiveness. I accept Your death as the penalty for my sin, and recognize that Your mercy and grace is a gift You offer to me because of Your great love, not based on anything I have done. Cleanse me and make me Your child. By faith I receive You into my heart as the Son of God and as Saviour and Lord of my life. From now on, help me live for You, with You in control.
I pray this prayer in Jesus name, Amen
What now?
This simple prayer of faith, if you prayed it sincerely, has the power to transform you from death to life. The Bible says:
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. - Romans 10:9-10
